What to Know

  1. How to get Resident Card:

    During the immigration process, a Landing Permission stamp will be affixed to your passport and a residence card will be issued. Students can do the part-time job 28 hours a week, so for that, you need to fill up the form, and then immigration will be affixed a part-time working Permission stamp to your residence card. Make sure to get stamped before you leave the immigration counter otherwise it will take a long time to stamp and you will not be able to do your part-time job until you affix the stamp on your resident card (Every year, we see international students who are forced to leave Japan as they cannot extend their period of authorized stay in the country due to their low school-attendance rates because they work part-time and neglect their studies. You have to be very careful not to let this situation happen.)

  2. What is Resident Card:

    The residency card is a card issued by the Immigration Services Agency of Japan to mid-to-long-term visitors to Japan. It notes the person's landing permission, permission to change the status of residence, period of stay renewal permission, and other information related to residency.
    This means that when a foreigner living in Japan must prove their residency status, they will use their residency card (or a Certificate of Residence). The residency card is used to prove residency status in situations such as opening a bank account, signing a contract for a cellular phone, renting a room, or taking admission tests at universities or other institutions.

  3. Registering your address:

    When you acquire a permanent residence in Japan. Within 14 days of moving to your permanent location, you must register your address with the local municipal office. First, go to the nearest ward office(Just type “ward office” or any related keyword in your google map and find the nearest one) to register your address. you need to fill out the application form and submit it with the below documents. After checking all the details they will stamp your address on your resident card.
